go! educational consulting assists with the many aspects of college counseling. We provide two different services - an abbreviated College Consult and a comprehensive College Placement. Please note that fees are applicable per one admissions cycle.

 

College Consult

This service is an abbreviated service where the student/family will follow through with the application process including student resume/brag sheet, essays, and interviews (if applicable). go!’s College Consult provides the student/family with a college list and road map. We typically recommend applying to 8-12 schools. 

 

Note that engaging with us a student’s sophomore year vs. a student’s senior year will better position a student to craft a more competitive application for their desired major (our consultants/counselors can give the student guidance on their high school classes and activities). Timing of our involvement can greatly change the trajectory and acceptances a student may receive in their desired major(s), hence their future.

 

The College Consult typically includes 2-3 online sessions with the student and an online session with the parent(s). Offline, the consultant will utilize their expertise and research to create a database of best college matches.

 

The College Consult may include the following:

• College Questionnaire:  To gather information about the student, their high school career and what they are looking for in a college.

• Intake Call with the Student: Video conferencing to meet the student. We will discuss their high school experience and possible majors and career goals. We will also talk about their extracurriculars, interests and hobbies to understand who they are as a person and their goals for college.

• Intake Call with the Parents: A separate discussion with the parents to learn about the student from their perspective and goals they hope for their child. 

• Review of student’s high school transcript and testing.

• College Matches: We will then research and provide a thoughtful, balanced, customized list (reach, target, and likely) of college matches based on what the student is looking for in their college experience.

 

College Placement

Our College Placement is our fully supported comprehensive package. In addition to the College Consult service above, the College Placement will typically include approximately an additional 8 online sessions along with ongoing emails to support the student’s applications. 

 

We will assist the student through the application process including the student resume/brag sheet, essays, and interviews (if applicable). After college notifications, we will continue working with the student until placement (a final decision is made).​

• College Questionnaire:  To gather information about the student, their high school career and what they are looking for in a college.

• Intake Call with the Student: Video conferencing to meet the student. We will discuss their high school experience and possible majors and career goals. We will also talk about their extracurriculars, interests and hobbies to understand who they are as a person and their goals for college.

• Intake Call with the Parents: A separate discussion with the parents to learn about the student from their perspective and goals they hope for their child. 

• Review of student’s high school transcript and testing.

• College Matches: We will then research and provide a thoughtful, balanced, customized list (reach, target, and likely) of college matches based on what the student is looking for in their college experience.

• Assistance with High School Brag Sheet/Resume and Teacher Recommendations.

• Essays: All prompts including the Common App, the Coalition Application, essays for the UCs (University of California), and campus specific essays/short answers.

• We know their voice and understand their character and potential.

• We will help brainstorm, offer suggestions for topics, and help craft compelling narratives that provide powerful insights into who the applicant is as a person and what they will bring to the campus as a student.

• Helping their essay be more memorable by establishing hook sentences, adjectives, anecdotes, examples, and quantitative information if needed.

• Editing including organization, structure, tone, grammar, and vocabulary to ensure a clear message and clarity in writing.

• Interview prep: Preparation for interviews if applicable.

• Test prep: Providing strategies and resources. 

• Decisions: Waitlist/deferral strategies and sounding board for final school selection
